Giovanna is a Canadian expat working and studying in Europe, she is perfectly bilingual (English- Italian) and also speaks two other languages, French and Spanish.

After high school she attended Sheridan College in Oakville, and earned a diploma in fine arts. Then she wanted to see the world and set out for Europe where she has visited several countries, among her favorite countries are the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Germany. She holds a Cambridge CELTA and a TEFL certificates and has taught English as a foreign language in Italy. She has trained to become an English/Italian translator but has yet to sit the examinations.

Giovanna has been involved in animal welfare and environmental issues ever since she can remember. Millions of animals deserve better lives than what they've got and this is why she vowed to champion the rights and welfare of animals around the world. She is gradually embracing vegetarianism from different perspectives; nourishment, environmental impact, animal welfare, health, etc. through changes in life style and extensive research. There are two major animal welfare issues she feels strongly about and feels that our societies have been misleading the public for years. Zoos and circuses. Giovanna has written articles for a U.S. Navy newspaper The Signature, about cross-cultural issues, travel, biographies, art, music, interior decorating-design and social issues, among other things. She has 13+ years of experience in U.S. Government Human Resources and 4 years in the hotel management and hospitality industry.

She occasionally works as a freelance writer for Denver-based magazine, "American Beauty."

She has been an active member, International Publisher Market Survey editor-coordinator and regional advisor for the Italian Chapter of the Los Angeles based Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators since 2003. She holds a creative writing diploma for children from the Institute of Children's Literature in Connecticut, USA.

She has been writing articles for Suite101.com since June 2010 about food and wine, travel, animal welfare, feature articles about specific politics and society issues, health, and career advice. Her interest in food has its roots in her lifestyle, first it comes from having lived in a country that has some of the best food and ingredients in the world (Italy), but her naturally inquisitive nature has taken this interest beyond the kitchen and into other areas such as food related health issues, the food industry, food recalls, food franchises, and so on.

She is working on finishing up a degree in linguistics and modern European languages and plans to move back to Canada. Giovanna is also working on her first book for children and hopes to be able to share with young readers soon.
